What can I say… if you’ve found this blog, you’re probably into Lambretta’s. Have a dig around. Look at some of the old stuff, there’s lots there. Feel free to repost anything you want, although a mention would be nice.
The blog started off over on Posterous, a now defunct blogging platform, and I’ve recently ported it over to WordPress. I’m not 100% happy about the way it looks at the moment, so I may try a few things out… you may notice a few changes if you decide to come back. There are lots of bits to be added, too.
As I said, if you found this blog you’re probably a Lambretta fan. I am. And I have been for years. Since the early 1980’s anyway, when I got my first Lambretta (well, a Serveta really) at age sixteen, with the money I’d saved up from my Saturday job. It was a 150 Special, in silver… and I loved her. I wasn’t allowed to ride her until my 17th birthday… but she was my pride and joy. Sadly, as the years went by one thing or another went wrong with her, and I ended up giving her away. And then there was a LONG break. But I always knew I’d get another. Until a few years ago, it was just a dream. I got married, had kids, did the usual stuff. Still I hankered after an Italian scooter from a bygone era. I knew, if I got one, it would have to be something practical, not just a weekend toy. It would have to be my regular commuter vehicle. I started looking around. Although I’d kept an eye on the market, and regularly bought scootering magazine, I still couldn’t quite believe the prices! But eventually, I found what I was looking for, a beautiful Series 2. And my second phase of scootering began.
So that’s my tale. The blog? It’s just bits and pieces I’ve found around the internet. I will endeavour to get permission before I publish any photos, and if I can find someone to credit, I will do, and link to their site. If I occasionally don’t, let me know, I’ll happily give your site, blog or images page a nod. And if you really don’t want your stuff featured on here, I’ll take the post down.

If I’ve posted anything that you think is technically incorrect, your probably right. In the last week, before updating this page, I’ve misidentified a Model C as a Model D, and incorrectly stated that Series 3 TV175s were known as GTs (when it was only the TV200 of course!). I actually LOVE IT when someone corrects me on the blog (unlike in “real life” ( hate that!) There are lots of people with a broader and deeper knowledge of Lambrettas than me. And if I post about Vespas or other marques I’m COMPLETELY out of my depth. So feel free to jump in and correct me… that’s what the comments are for. If you’ve got an opinion, likewise, as long as it’s not too offensive, and I’ll be the judge of that.

Hi. Interesting blog. My first vehicle when I was 17 and still at high school was a Lambretta 175 (would have been a 1960s model). It was blue and I really loved it. It started my passion for two wheel motoring. Today I have a Yamaha XJR1300, which is a far cry from a scooter, but the same two wheel joy is felt when you ride.

I too have ridden motorcycles (topping out at a 750), but returned to scooters… still like bikes, especially older ones, but Lambrettas are b my passion!
No pictures unfortunately, which is a shame now that I think about it. We rode with no helmets and no protective clothing (no legal requirement back then). Anyway, cheers and enjoy your next ride!
how do you propose to get over the strict 2 – stroke laws… will there be any problem ?
As far as I know, hopefully, any 2-stroke legislation won’t be applied to pre 1972 vehicles… in the UK anyway. This will include a lot, but not all of the Lammies on the road. The law will be different around the world, Have you got any inside info James?

And I think I may have heard of Rome… 🙂 although I have visited Italy a couple of times (first Firenze, then Naples and Sorrento, I haven’t made it to your capital, yet). Yeah William, it’s definitely some kind of sickness… and once you’ve been bitten by the bug, there’s no cure! You might think you’ve got over a case of Lambrettaitis in your youth, but it can recur again at any age. And I for one don’t need a Doctor, because I wouldn’t want to be cured!

Ed, I’m live in America, Ex- 80’S Brit Scooterist. I have a Triumph T140V 73/75, which is really nice… But I always wanted a GP200. That’s the reason for contacting you, I’m considering buying one thats just come up for sale here. Wondered if you could use this situation on your Blog…? Theres a lot of doubt in my mind about the bike… But it could be just perfect. Paul
