There’s a lovely LD over on eBay in in unmolested ‘time warp’ condition.
The following is from the sellers eBay description, so as ever, ‘buyer beware’, but IMHO there are rarely such ‘honest’ looking scooters, and the pics all tally with the description… One family (husband and wife) owner from new (Jan 1957) . This Mk1 model LD150 saw many a Lambretta club meeting and event during its road going life back in the late fifties. The owners were based in Southend and members of their local club “The South East Essex Sea Urchins”. The original club pennant and badge on the badge bar are testament to this, and a lovely original touch, as are flyscreen and other original period accessories, all present and correct. The Scooter at some point was stripped completely and “customised” in Primrose yellow and many items were rechromed.
The scoot has been laid up since 1970 – it still retains it’s final MOT certificate and 1969 tax disc (also present is the all important buff log book).
£5k still seems a lot of money to me for an LD, but scooter prices are heading ever higher, and this does look like a very nice example so it’s probably about right. Since it’s redeiscovery, it has had a detailed conservation and many weeks carefully cleaning, fettling and preserving by Revival Scooters, and is now available for you to purchase.

I’ve been following Hugo’s blog for a while now, he has set himself the task of producing a fresh new drawing every day and posting it on his blog… something he’s been doing for over three years now. His watercolour sketches have a wonderful combination of “looseness” and accuracy. In a recent visit to MuVIM ( Valencian Museum of Enlightenment & Modernity – now theres a title!), he sketched the Lambretta Model D, and LD on display, along with two Spanish bikes. I don’t know about you, but I think he has really caught the essence of the machines! To cap it all I even got a mention in his blog, which made my day! Liking the look of this ’56 LD150… Untouched for 30 years, and back and running. For sale for £1950 with lots of spares, including a spare engine. I found it while browsing the Volkszone.com Volkswagen forum, so you’ll probaby have to sign up to that if you’re interested, as I haven’t spotted it on eBay yet…
The King Kurt side panels bring back some pleasant memories of a misspent youth, and some fantastically messy gigs too. Ooh wallah wallah wallah, ooh wallah ooh, indeed.
So, now the sun is finally suing, it’s time to sort through your wardrobe for something suitable to wear to the shops. Or the beach. Or work, if you work somewhere a bit casual. !&I came across another nice Lambretta blog the other day which is worth a look – Riding Lola is “The Adventures of a 1963 Lambretta TV175 and her current owner”. But the TV is actually Lola 2… Lola 1 was a LD150. The owner, Glen is from Dallas Texas… and his blog features one of the best Lambretta images I’ve seen for a while, Lola next to one of my favourite three-wheelers… the Bond Bug In fact it’s my favourite bike car combo for a while, although it doesn’t ‘match’ the bug quite as well as a Quasar…
I love the old fella in the shot too… in fact, it could be my grandad… he’s wearing the exact gear my grandad used to… the exact trilby hat and car coat!

A bit of nostalgia for you… whenever I was off school back in the ’80’s…there wasn’t much telly on… I remember stuff like Crown Court and General Hospital… and then, at lunchtime, there was always Pebble Mill. Here’s an episode from the 80’s featuring Lambretta legend Mike Karslake, and some of his extensive Lambretta collection, including his Lambretta based fire engine and Wolfie’s Lambretta from Citizen Smith! He makes quite an entry on a Series 2 sidecar combination!
Trawling the web for Lambretta images, I came across this freshly restored, and pimped up LD in Indonesia. Sitting rotting in a shipyard, it was rescued and given the full treatment by XXX, including the unique colour scheme, which it wears well. Very funky!
I even like the red carpet… although whatever material it’s made of – in the UK it would just soak up rain, maybe you can get away with it in Indonesia!
Found on the Vietnamese Xe Va Phong Cách blog, which Google tells me translates to “The Car and Style” although it originally comes from the Indonesian automotive blog dapurpacu.com. From what I can make out the work was done by these guys in Jakarta: Alamat Bengkel Primo 116 Werx
