Gorgeous Golden Age Scooter models

21231586_1917928411765279_7738894821993192682_nI got sent a link from Olivier in Toulouse about these fabulous aluminium and resin models based on scooters from “the golden age”. The models are going to be produced in a limited series soon, through Ulele, a European crowdfunding site.

I get sent a few things like this… scooter related ‘merch’, and to be honest, a lot of it is pretty poor. I think these are great though… Olivier has managed to convey the essence of each scooter in the minimum number of elements; really, really cool.

As well as LD, (probably still the most popular Lambretta in France), and a Vespa, there is a rather lovely Peugeot. The models aren’t cheap, but, as ever, you get what you pay for. They’d make a great present for anyone who loves their classic scoots.

Check out the details on the Ulele site, or Olivier’s Facebook page.

Beautiful little film about a lost Lambretta.

A lovely little movie about a family Lambretta that was lost for twenty years before being found again. There’s English subtitles, if you’re French isn’t quite up to scratch.

LC Sidecar Combination

lc_sidecar_ebay_italy-4On the Italian eBay site is this rather lovely LC and sidecar combo. It’s €12,500, which bearing in mind the state of the pound, is a little on the steep side. If you’re not lucky enough to live in Italy, he’ll ship it internationally.

Mike Karslake on Pepple Mill

A bit of nostalgia for you… whenever I was off school back in the ’80’s…there wasn’t much telly on… I remember stuff like Crown Court and General Hospital… and then, at lunchtime, there was always Pebble Mill. Here’s an episode from the 80’s featuring Lambretta legend Mike Karslake, and some of his extensive Lambretta collection, including his Lambretta based fire engine and Wolfie’s Lambretta from Citizen Smith! He makes quite an entry on a Series 2 sidecar combination!

Another argument solved.

Paul Newman on a LambrettaWho’s the coolest Paul Newman, or Steve McQueen? It’s a tough call. I’d have always just about come down on the side of Mr McQueen, despite Mr Newman’s salad dressing, Cool Hand Luke, and his rendition of Plastic Jesus (check it out here if you haven’t heard it yet). But this is the final bit of evidence that swings it for Newman. And, until I see photographic evidence of McQueen on a Lammie, it’s definative. Paul Newman is the coolest. End of.

She usually starts first kick…

Dean Martin Lambretta KickstartWe’ve all been there. Your Lammie always starts first or second kick. Unless there is somebody nearby that you want to impress, or you’re selling it, and somebody has come for a test drive. Temperamental beasts, Lambrettas… they don’t like being taken for granted. Not even by Dino!

Model Lambrettas

A bit late for Christmas, but here are a couple of Lambretta models I found on Amazon. I was in two minds about posting links to Amazon as I had bit  had a bit of a run-in with them before the festivities, regarding Vittoria Tessera’s Lambretta book… but I’ll post about that another time. And on balance, I thought you, my fellow Lambrettisti, would be interested.

Although you can find plenty of model Vespa’s out there, model Lambrettas have always been harder to find, and especially the more popular models… you would have thought there would be a good market for TV175’s, SX’s and GP’s; I’d certainly buy them!
