The Sun is shining (where I am, anyway!) and the forecast is good. The “scootering season” is kicking off in style. In what’s becoming a regular Friday feature, here’s a couple of fun things to do this weekend!

And don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day… so if you’re going out on your scooter on Sunday, maybe arrange a bunch of flowers for Mum, eh?

If you’re planning further ahead, check out the Events page (and keep checking back, new events are being added all the time). And if your event isn’t listed, please get in touch and I’ll add it for free.

Contemporary Lambretta Art

SaraSutton1

Love this painting by Sara Sutton, and contemporary artist from North London.

Sara shares a common history and influences with a lot of scooterists of my generation… Here’s a bit about her in her own words… after my punk phase I fell into the London rockin’ scene at an early age. Cars and scooters featured heavily on the scene as much as the music and clothes. My music interests spread to northern soul and ska and I still love all the music and still enjoy a night out dancing at one of the clubs. Most of my work is centred round my life in London and good times spent out and about…”

You can find more of Sara’s work on her website, here: sarasutton.co.uk
or check it out live at here next exhibition at the Ply Gallery in  Hornsey Town Hall Art Centre on July 20th- 27th

New Zealand Scooter Mille Miglia 2014

A long overdue post for this epic event… (and I mean properly epic as my nine year old son uses it – applied to just about everything). Four days covering 1000 miles across New Zealand, on scooters. And scooters means proper scooters. Classic geared scooters, as it should. Preparations for this years ride on the 23rd – 26th April are well underway check out the website at www.motoretta.co.nz (The event is now rebranded Mottoretta NZ Motto GP due to legal reasons).MOTOTT2015coglogoarrows3The website is very smart – I love the new branding. Check out the team names, that’ll give you a flavour of the event. if you want to take part… sorry… you’re too late, it was all booked up by September. Maybe get a team together and stick it in the diary for 2016? It’s something I’d love to do one year, but couldn’t have sone it this year anyway as I’ll be in Italy for something rather special and scooter related… watch this space!

Thanks Thornton for the heads up on this.

South African Sunday Rideout

sundayAndy from the Lambretta Club of South Africa sent me this pic of their Jo’berg rideout. Nice to se a couple of S1’s. He kindly informed me that it was 33°C… And although it’s not too chilly here in the UK at the moment, I’d trade a few of our Winter days for a day or two of that!

Pics from the Glasgow Mod Weekender 2014? Show Me!

There’s a lot for me to like it this collection of pics from the Glasgow Mod Weekender rideout… 1.Glasgiow is the city of my birth, and the home of my fitba team (the Mighty Jags!), ics if the the scoots, obviously, and one of my favourite, Dexy’s tracks as a sound track. What’s not to like!
