There’s a selection of weird and wonderful scooters on eBay, from this fella. All of them look like they need a fair bit of work, and don’t come with any documents as they were barn finds.

There’s a couple of LD’s in there, as well as a Vespa Sportique, a Triumph T10, a BSA Sunbeam (or it maybe a Triumph Tigress… they’re pretty much the same beast), a Jawa Manet, and a Manuhin Concorde. None of them are much money (at the moment anyway). If you fancy something different, and you’re handy with a spanner, you might be able to grab yourself a bargain.

Back in the USSR

Classic Lambretta’s were tricky to get hold of. However, those clever Soviets produced their own version. The 200cc Tula Tourist isn’t as pretty as a SX, that’s for sure, but I’ve seen uglier scoots. This one if for sale over at Car and Classic… here. £750 or near offer.

And if you want to check out more information about Tula scooters, Autosoviet is a great site.

If I had it, I’d probably paint it bright red, with a big hammer and sickle and CCCP on the side panel. But maybe that’s just a bit obvious.

Be Happy – Lambretta is back – THIS SUMMER!

I wrote about the relaunch of the Lambretta scooter on my other blog way back in November last year… read the blog entry here.
It’s been pretty quiet since then… but I’ve heard on the jungle drums that there is some exciting news in the offing… and that the all new Lambretta LN will be back soon. Very soon. We’re talking June. There will be two models, sharing simialar styling, the LS which comes in 50cc, 125, and 150cc variants, and the steel bodied LN, which comes with a 125 or 150 engine. Both the LS and the LN use a single cylinder, air cooled 4 stroke engine.

I’ve received no word on pricing, yet, but stick with me, check back, and if I hear anything, anything at all, it’ll be posted up here.
UPDATE: Right, had a sniff… and the word on the street is they will be selling for around £3,300… so sort of in the same ballpark as a 125 Vespa.

In the meantime, check out this official website.
What do you think the chances are of them lending me one for a couple of weeks, so I can write a proper review?

Qtvan2
reminded me of this…

You wouldn’t want too many big hills!
Seriously though… wouldn’t you get a Vdub camper?

I know, I know, the QTvan is intended for mobility scooters. And it’s got a speed limit of 5mph. But If my Lambretta was pulling it, I doubt we’d be going much faster than that!

Lambretta fire engine photographic prints

Like Lambretta’s? Like Fire engines? You’ll love these images then. Get a photographic print from Rex Features, staring from just a tenner. They’ve also got some great shots of the Lambretta assembly line at the original Innocenti factory.

The star of Rock and Chips

Don’t know if you caught Rock and Chips (a prequel to Only Fools and Horses) by the late, great John Sullivan. To be honest, I think it’s a bit hit and miss, comedy wise. The star of the show is supposed to be James Buckley as a young Del Boy, but for my money it’s his lovely Series 1 Lambretta.

There’s a few great shots of Del and his mates off to Brighton on an assortment of Series 1 and 2’s.  Unfortunately Rock and Chips isn’t available on  iPlayer for some reason (probably because the BBC want to flog us a box set!) but here’s a link to the BBC’s page.
I got the photo’s off f the Zimbio site. Quite fancy a set of those horns myself…
