Lambrettista. Now on WordPress.

With the sad demise of Posterous, the ‘platform’ which got me started on blogging in the first place, I had to look round for alternatives. WordPress seems the way to go… so here I am. All the old content from the Posterous site should import later… and things might look a little different around here… but rest assured it will still be dedicated to “the world’s finest motor scooter” The Lambretta.

In the meantime, until the end of the month, you can still check out the old Lambrettista here: http://lambrettista.posterous.com/

What’s YOUR dream Lambretta collection?

The post I stuck up the other day about an entire Lambretta collection up for sale probably wouldn’t be the eight machines I’d put together in a collecton. Actually, there’s no probably about it – it definately wouldn’t. Got me thinking though… if you had the resources to by your dream Lambretta collection, what would it include? I’ve half done mine in my head a few times, and it comes out different each time… so come on, get involved let me know.

Rules… You’re ‘budget” is £50k… use your estimating skills, and give each of your selections a “guide price”. You can throw in one “wildcard”, ie. a non-Lambretta scooter. All models from 1947 onwards, and from any country manufacturing under licence acceptable. All styles and modifications acceptable.

Once I’ve pinned down my ideal garageful I’ll post them up here. But what would YOUR dream Lambretta collection consist of?

Stolen scooter?

Nssr-poster

If you have the misfortune to have your scooter nicked… Get it registered on the Lambretta Club of Great Britain’s National Stolen Scooter Registry

I can’t write it any clearer than they do themselves… so here goes… ” [The NSSR] is a detailed list of scooters or scooter parts stolen from owners in the UK. This information is provided by the owner in the hope that scooterists at large can help them recover their property by being vigilant and notifying them (or myself) should you become aware of stolen property that appears in the “LCGB National Stolen Scooter Registry“.

I urge you to contact me should you have any STRONG suspicion regarding any purchase, particularly on sites such as Ebay to check any potential purchase does not appear on the LCGB National Stolen Scooter Registry. All information received is treated in the strictest confidence.

And good luck in getting your pride and joy back.

Welcome to Lambrettista

This Posterous stuff is getting addictive! I think I was posting a few too many scooter related links over at CrocodileJock, (my other blog) which was originally intended to be a general design blog. I thought the Lambretta stuff might be turning some readers off, and the design stuff turning the scooter crew off. So here goes, a dedicated Lambretta blog. There may be some Vespa (cough, splutter!) stuff posted here from time to time, and other scoots… but I will veer towards the vintage stuff rather than modern, “twist and go” scooters, unless there’s something that interests me of course. So, to kick it off (and while I work out how to re-publish the scooter stuff from the CrocodileJock blog), here are some interesting concepts for a modern Lambretta, dating from 2006. Rather a good effort, I thought. I’m trying to track down some more information about the creator, Robledo.

Oh, and the other difference between this blog and the CrocodileJock one is I’s like this site to be a bit more collaborative, so if you’ve got any Lambretta (or other scooter at a pinch) related pictures or stories to share, get in touch.
