Lambretta used in shoe ad…

Never mind where she got the shoes… where did he get the scoot?

If you want to make your ad sexy and stylish, just add a couple of pretty girls and a Lambretta. Nerver fails. Nice Lammy, used to flog footwear.

Lambretta – the movie

Not sure of the provenance of this fine piece of footage, if you follow this link it will take you to Peter Janovick’s YouTube page, but it looks to me like it’s been taped off the telly at some point in the late ’90’s. If it was, it passed me by on it’s original airing… and the late 90’s has itself become a bit of history I suppose. God I feel old sometimes!

Anyway, if you know a bit about Lammies, it’s an interesing 26 minutes, and if you’ve stumbled across this website somehow without knowing about Mr Innocenti’s fine creations, it’s virtually essential viewing.

Dick Smart and his SuperVespa

Came across this recently via Ride the machine.
Now I know this is a Lambretta blog, and I have been less than complimentary about our Vespa riding brethren (only in jest, honestly),
but that’s because I’d never seen this movie before. Dick, or should that be Signor Smart, is a Vespa riding, latino James Bond type.
I won’t spoil it for you (you really got to see it to believe it) but the words Little Nelly sprang to mind. 007 afficionados will know what I’m on about.
Fantastic cheesy soundrack too.

Stella Artois ad

Stellaad
Do you remember these print ads for Stella Artois, featuring design classics, such as an Eames chair, Rickenbacker guitar and even… gasp… a Lambretta used as to open a bottle of Stella?
Beautifully understated advertising that you have to work at, just a little, to “get”. I love the subtlety of just the Stella cap, and a few droplets of beer on the horncasting. They know their Lambrettas too, Using the very desirable Series 3 TV200. There’s not even a Stella Artois logo, just their wonderful “Reassuringly Expensive” strapline. Class.

The star of Rock and Chips

Jamesbuckleyjessashworth-rockc

Don’t know if you caught Rock and Chips (a prequel to Only Fools and Horses) by the late, great John Sullivan. To be honest, I think it’s a bit hit and miss, comedy wise. The star of the show is supposed to be James Buckley as a young Del Boy, but for my money it’s his lovely Series 1 Lambretta.

There’s a few great shots of Del and his mates off to Brighton on an assortment of Series 1 and 2’s.  Unfortunately Rock and Chips isn’t available on  iPlayer for some reason (probably because the BBC want to flog us a box set!) but here’s a link to the BBC’s page.
I got the photo’s off f the Zimbio site. Quite fancy a set of those horns myself…
