Stella Artois ad

Stellaad
Do you remember these print ads for Stella Artois, featuring design classics, such as an Eames chair, Rickenbacker guitar and even… gasp… a Lambretta used as to open a bottle of Stella?
Beautifully understated advertising that you have to work at, just a little, to “get”. I love the subtlety of just the Stella cap, and a few droplets of beer on the horncasting. They know their Lambrettas too, Using the very desirable Series 3 TV200. There’s not even a Stella Artois logo, just their wonderful “Reassuringly Expensive” strapline. Class.

Ib_p010_1_1

A little while ago I posted that the new Lambretta LN would be on sale in the UK soon. Well, Lynx scooters are now taking orders for the new Lambretta LN from today.

The price for the LN125 4t is  £3299.00 The so my guesstimate of £3,300 was pretty close :).
They have limited stocks, and are also selling through a classified ad on eBay.
Apparently there are only a very limited number available, so if you fancy one, be quick.

Remember, you heard it here first!

There’s a selection of weird and wonderful scooters on eBay, from this fella. All of them look like they need a fair bit of work, and don’t come with any documents as they were barn finds.

There’s a couple of LD’s in there, as well as a Vespa Sportique, a Triumph T10, a BSA Sunbeam (or it maybe a Triumph Tigress… they’re pretty much the same beast), a Jawa Manet, and a Manuhin Concorde. None of them are much money (at the moment anyway). If you fancy something different, and you’re handy with a spanner, you might be able to grab yourself a bargain.

Like Lambretta’s? Like Fire engines? You’ll love these images then. Get a photographic print from Rex Features, staring from just a tenner. They’ve also got some great shots of the Lambretta assembly line at the original Innocenti factory.

The star of Rock and Chips

Jamesbuckleyjessashworth-rockc

Don’t know if you caught Rock and Chips (a prequel to Only Fools and Horses) by the late, great John Sullivan. To be honest, I think it’s a bit hit and miss, comedy wise. The star of the show is supposed to be James Buckley as a young Del Boy, but for my money it’s his lovely Series 1 Lambretta.

There’s a few great shots of Del and his mates off to Brighton on an assortment of Series 1 and 2’s.  Unfortunately Rock and Chips isn’t available on  iPlayer for some reason (probably because the BBC want to flog us a box set!) but here’s a link to the BBC’s page.
I got the photo’s off f the Zimbio site. Quite fancy a set of those horns myself…

How to build a Lambretta in two minutes.

Well, the video is two minutes… the build took considerably longer!

The Lambretta… a work of art

Darren-roberts-paintings-and-d
Got a blank wall, desperate to be filled with a piece of original, Innocenti inspired artwork? Got £500? Then you could get hold of this original oil on canvas, by Darren Roberts. 450mm x 350mm.
Available from here. If that’s not to your taste, there’s a couple of others… he’s obviously a gentleman of some taste.

A bit of ScootErotica for the gentlemen readers… Sex had been used to sell scooters, and everything else since day one. New York Scooter Club has pulled together a ton of pictures of young (mostly) ladies, draped over various scooters, in various states of dress, and undress.

I’ve edited it down… so you don’t have to look at the “less tasteful” ones – the ones featuring Vespa’s 🙂 So we’re 100% Lambretta here.*

*Actually, there’s one joker in the pack, that appears twice. Points if you spot it, bonus points if you can name the make and model.

The Second Annual MotorScooter Rally at the Isle of Man, 1959

Found this fantastic video on YouTube. Those were the days… Bear in mind, when you see everybody in their jumpers, scarves and macintoshes – this was the height of summer! Halcyon days. (I don’t actually know what halcyon means… but I expect these days were halcyon).

Lambretta Cento

Hmmm. I hate it when I have to change my mind… I always thought the J-range was the “ugly duckling” of the Lambretta brood… but one of my readers (he’s asked not to be namechecked) sent me a picture of this particularly nice Cento. I think it has rather a nice look to it, don’t you? Nice garden too!
