John the Mod is a striking oil painting by Irish artist Gary Bonner. See more of Gary’s work here… and read about how, and why he came to create this image in The Donegal Democrat
Unlike the Lambretta Cuckoo Clock featured previously, this is something I wouldn’t mind hanging on my wall!

The star of Rock and Chips

Don’t know if you caught Rock and Chips (a prequel to Only Fools and Horses) by the late, great John Sullivan. To be honest, I think it’s a bit hit and miss, comedy wise. The star of the show is supposed to be James Buckley as a young Del Boy, but for my money it’s his lovely Series 1 Lambretta.

There’s a few great shots of Del and his mates off to Brighton on an assortment of Series 1 and 2’s.  Unfortunately Rock and Chips isn’t available on  iPlayer for some reason (probably because the BBC want to flog us a box set!) but here’s a link to the BBC’s page.
I got the photo’s off f the Zimbio site. Quite fancy a set of those horns myself…

Buying your first classic scooter, on a budget… but I’m bang out of time today. It’s work in progress, and it’ll be up Monday.I the meantime, here are some snaps of my scooter, enjoying the lovely spring sunshine we’ve been having. While they’re not of the standard of Paul at Vespamore… they’re not too shabby if I say so myself. Makes the old girl look quite presentable 🙂

Oh, and one more thing, if you work in a company that makes stuff for scooters, accessories, helmets, books, clothing, crates of beer etc… and you want a bit of publicity… get in touch. I’m not adverse to receiving freebies, (hey, at least I’m being honest about it!), and if you want me to review your product I’d be happy to do that! Worth a try I suppose… 😉

If you’re after something slightly different, how about this lovely skinhead style skelly… tons of original style accessories, and it’s got most the original panels and bodywork, if you want to turn it back to a full framed scoot. Buy it now for £2,300

A bit of a disclaimer… I don’t know any of these scooters – or sellers, I’m not making a penny from these, and I can’t vouch for the originality, legality, performance or anything else about these scoots. They just look good to me. I’m going to write a post on the best places to buy a scooter, other than eBay, so watch this space. And if you’re thinking of buying a Lambretta, it’s definitely worth checking out the buyers guide on the Lambretta Cub of Great Britain’s website
