Mike Karslake on Pepple Mill

A bit of nostalgia for you… whenever I was off school back in the ’80’s…there wasn’t much telly on… I remember stuff like Crown Court and General Hospital… and then, at lunchtime, there was always Pebble Mill. Here’s an episode from the 80’s featuring Lambretta legend Mike Karslake, and some of his extensive Lambretta collection, including his Lambretta based fire engine and Wolfie’s Lambretta from Citizen Smith! He makes quite an entry on a Series 2 sidecar combination!

Watch the video, choose your adventure, Vote Lambretta

Frank Aberdean on a LambrettaFrank Aberdean” is an online video series, following the adventures of a mysterious masked dude. Set in 1988. It’s not the normal sort of content I feature on here, but it’s fun, and it’s kind of cool. It’s got a Nightmare on Elm Street / Friday 13th sort of vibe about it… to me anyway. The twist is, at the end pf each video chapter, you get to vote on what happen next. Does “Frank” travel by Lambretta or Bronco SUV? You choose.

Lambretta Vs BroncoYou know what I want to see… but the only way to be sure of seeing the dude in the red leather jacket, yellow lid and skeleton mask zoom off on a Lambretta… (or is that a Serveta, not that it matters), is to vote. Here. And you just know somewhere there’s a Bronco blog urging their readers to do the same thing.

Frank Aberdean

Lets make sure he makes the right choice 🙂

The whole project is the brainchild of Mako Miyamoto, a Portland Ohio based designer, art director (and I suspect Lambrettista).

Frankenstein Scooters to Dracula’s Castle

Video about the road trip written about in new scooter travel book ‘Frankenstein Scooters to Dracula’s Castle’ Italy to Istanbul on 400cc Suzuki-engined Maicoletta, and a couple of Lambrettas …by Martin ‘Sticky’ Round… watch out for a review of the book soon!

A video by Genny Albertini, not too sure about the music, but the scoots look great!

How to paint a Lambretta in 3 minutes and 25 seconds

A little bit of artistic inspiration 🙂

Washing the lammie…

Washing the Lammie… sounds like a euphemism, or is that just my mucky mind? Anyway here’s a nice little vid, selling t-shirts, and I can’t think of a better way of selling them than getting an attractive young lady to wear one while washing a Lambretta. Brought to you by the guys at Scooterist.

Not much to say about this little video from the defunct Men & Motors channel, I wonder if she got her letters delivered?

Vespa GL & 90SS vs. Lambretta SX200 & GP200

Lightweight, and factually incorrect (90mph from a 90SS – really? 90kph surely! – and it’s 90SS, not SS90…) piece on the now defunct Men & Motors Freesat channel. Francesca Robinson takes 4 classic scooters for a test drive, and sorry to mislead you in the title but it isn’t a straight shootout between the Vespas and the Lammies… but a cursory run through of each model. Some nice scoots, especially the SX “commonly known in the scooter world as Sex Appleal”, er, no, that was just an averting slogan. Despite all my carping on, I’ve seen worse, and although you won’t learn anything new, it’s worth a watch.

Vintage footage of Lambrettas racing at Thruxton

This great bit of scootering history has just been posted on YouTube… The Lambretta Club of Great Britain racing at the Thruxton circuit in Hampshire, back in 1969. I’m assuming they hired the circuit for the day… they seem like they had a decent membership back in the day! The footage features several  names that may be familiar to aficionados of the racing scene, Roy Bradford, Nev Frost, and the Ronald Brothers.

GP225WildCat has posted a number of other South Devon Lambretta Club vids on YouTube, all of which are well worth checking out! There is even more great stuff over at the Retrobubble website, mainly from the late ’50s to the 70’s, but some 80’s stuff too. All available to buy on DVD. As I have only just discovered this site myself, a full ‘review’ will be forthcoming, shortly!

Beautifully, really beautifully shot video of the Italian National Lambretta Rally. Lovely piano soundtrack, that really works. Stunning. Watch it in full screen, please. That’s it, other than I found it on Vimeo, and it’s by RDigital Salerno
