Rallymaster Replica on eBay

RallymasterRep-11I posted back in 2012 about a lovely Rallymaster Replica for sale on eBay… long gone of course, but check it out here if you want to see some pics. Well, here’s another one. (Click on each of the images in the mosaic to see them full size).

And if anything, it’s even better. Cracking looking scoot, and something a bit different to the multitude of TV / GT / SX Replicas peppering eBay these days. As with all these things, it’s the attention to detail that matters, and this scooter has that in spades. Although it’s not an original feature, I love the custom horn casing badge (you can see it in the first image). Lover-ly.

Contemporary Lambretta Art

Love this painting by Sara Sutton, and contemporary artist from North London.

Sara shares a common history and influences with a lot of scooterists of my generation… Here’s a bit about her in her own words… “after my punk phase I fell into the London rockin’ scene at an early age. Cars and scooters featured heavily on the scene as much as the music and clothes. My music interests spread to northern soul and ska and I still love all the music and still enjoy a night out dancing at one of the clubs. Most of my work is centred round my life in London and good times spent out and about…”

World’s largest Lambretta collection up for sale!

20150506-2904-EditaWhen asked what the ideal number of Lambrettas to own is, the usual answer is ‘one more than I’ve got’. Spanish-based ex-pat Colin Bunn taken that concept and run with it.

Colin has amassed an absolutely incredible collection of Lambrettas (and associated marques), in what must surely be the world’s largest collection of Lambrettas (unless you know different). Now, due to some unfortunate circumstances, most of the collection will be up for sale…

Lambrettas – Made in the USA!

When writing this blog, I often stumble across something that makes me think “I never knew that!” This is one of the biggest I never knew that’s” so far… Lambrettas were briefly made in an Innocenti factory in Duluth, Minnesota, United States of America (if you don’t know where Duluth is, it’s Mippeappolis and up a bit, on the North East side of Lake Superior).

I came across this story on the Lambretta Club USA’s Lambretta Jamboree page (the Lammy Jammy this year is in Duluth), here, where the video I’ve posted above explains “Minnesota Connection”

As part of the Lammy Jammy celebrations in Duluth, you have the chance of winning a very rare “Wintermaster S2 Prototype” (pictured below) recovered from abandoned Duluth factory. So as well as being made in Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Argentina, Brazil, India, Pakistan and Taiwan (have I missed anywhere?) Lammbrettas were also briefly made in the USA*. I came across this info a few weeks ago, but thought it was worth waiting for this particular day before I shared it. Alert readers may have spotted the posting date already. One more thing… further research shows this project the code name “Pesce d’Aprile”.

 

Barn Find LI

BarnFindLIFound this great looking unrestored 1960 LI online… I wish I’d found it in a barn! BarnFindLI-2BarnFindLI-1It’s up for auction at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire on the 15th of April, with a guide price of £1,000 – £1,500 (which seems about right). It would benefit from a sensitive, “conserved restoration”. It comes with some nice original period accessories… and you can use that white top box to keep some bits in, in your garage. Or bin it. Rare Ridgeback, Reduced.

RareRidgeback-4To be honest, I’d never even heard of a “ridgeback” Lambretta before. Luckily it has nothing to do with hard-as-nails Rhodesian dogs, but it’s a rare early TV2. A TV2 that has a weld, or ridge, running down both sides of the frame tube. Apparently this was removed after frame numbers *108… so they’re as rare as the proverbial rocking horse excrement. This one comes fully loaded with authentic period accessories, and a five digit number plate. It’s just had a grand knocked off the price, hence the headline. And you can buy it on eBay here.

Another lovely TV175, Series 2 – only 6,000 original miles

Used for two years from new, and then stored… this TV175 has only had one previous owner. It a cracking looking scoot… not fully loaded with accessories like the one I posted the other day, but showing off the original Lambretta lines to the fullest. To be honest, I’d ditch the rear crash bars, I don’t think they add anything, but each to their own. It’s a classified ad, and they want £7,500 for it.
