Oh, they had style back in the day. The men wore suits, and the ladies rode side saddle. Or looking backwards! When it was on the stand, anyway… those were the days.

Not a lot to say about this, other than it’s a lovely period illustration of an LD. Or possibly an LC. I have dreadful problems telling them apart tbh. Is there an easy way to spot the difference?

Mystery Early 60’s Lambretta Wedding Movie!

This is a wonderful piece of social history, a wedding video featuring a whole brace of Lambrettas from the the Mitcham Goons Scooter Club…
It was found at a car boot sale in Wimbledon by the son of a film historian, Barry Littlechild.
I think it dates from the early 60’s… judging by the machines (several Series 2’s) and it’s probably something to do with the movie “Come September“, starring Rock Hudson and Gina Lollobrigida, which came out in 61. So, does anybody know anymore? Who’s the bride? Were you a member of the Mitcham Goons? If you were, or you know more of the story, please let me know – I’d love to follow this up… or let the guys at the Wimbledon Guardian know direct. I think they’re TV’s anyway. Unusual sidecars too! I expect they are a bit of a mobile toolbox! I’d love to see a colour pic of this… I’m guessing the scoots and sidecars were finished in RAC colours… a dark, navy blue! I bet the AA were jealous!

Fantastic Lambretta Video
Nothing in the way of a commentary just some marvellous vintage footage, (some of it I’ve never seen before) of the world’s finest motor scooter. It looks like it has been nicked from the History channel. The music’s pretty good too…so just sit back and enjoy. Ends with the text “Lambretta …the other side of the Italian miracle”
Suedehead SX
Love this image, snagged off The Scooterist blog of a custom SX. I’d peg it as a guy in a transitional “hard mod/suedehead” phase, the scooter, though full bodied is starting to bear the hallmarks of the later “Skinhead Skellie” style, with the high rise, basketweave seat and headrest, the scarf tied on, and the megaphone exhaust. A good look Brian!
