Stolen Scooters Alert

Darren Williams has had four scooters nicked from his garage, in Hartley Witney (between Basingstoke and Camberley)  last night, Wednesday 11th of January.

The stolen scooters are as follows

Scooters

Lambretta LiS S3, 1966; Gold, pathfinder spots and a Mugello 225 (only just re-lined and new piston!)

Vespa GS 1964, White, North American non-Battery model (no ignition in headset is an easy spot)

Vespa GS 1964, Black, with a PX200 engine.

Vespa Sprint 1967, Pastel green, witha PX166 Malossi, registered as a sprint, trapezoid headlight, it has no toolbox space in panel (as per the ss180, and motovespas).

There are some very nice, and very recognisable scooters there. If you see them for sale, of if you hear anything that could help him recover them, any info would be gratefullly received. His mobile is 07917 244472. Or you can contact Farnborough Police Station on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

I hope Darren gets his scoots back. If you have had your scooter stolen, remember the Lambretta Clubs’ Stolen Scooter Registry. And drop me a line too (crocodilejock@gmail.com) and I’ll stick it up on here. You never know, every little helps.

If I had a Hammer…

I’d hammer in the morning, and the evening! Found this rather nice Lambretta AF Rayspeed Rapido 250, on eBay, ideal for the supporter of a certain East London Assosication Footaball team. Currently on the Isle of Wight, with a classified price of £5k.

Here’s the link.

Got a scooter? There’s an App for that.

If you’ve got a scooter, and you’ve got an iPhone, you might want to download the Scootlife App by Anthone Campbell. It allows you to track trips, locate where you parked your scooter, setup service notifications as well as manage your maintenance logs. More info on the iTunes App Store, or Anthone’s website. I haven’t tested it, so I’m not vouching for it… but at $0.99c you haven’t got a great deal to loose!

New 50cc Lambretta’s sneak onto the market

Screen_shot_2011-12-22_at_09

Ok, so I’ve been a little busy… (hence the lack of recent updates on here) but I have kept my eye on the happenings in the Lambretta world. Don’t quite know how I missed this (Although to be fair I did flag it up in November).

But it looks like the good people behind the new Lambretta LN have snuck out a couple of new models without telling me. From what I can gather there is three new models… the LS50 (Top pic, green flashes on the sidepanels)… which sneaks in at just under £3k (ouch!) and the (slightly) more affordable LT (middle pic – the red one) and LJ (last pic, headlight on the horncasting)… which come in at just under £2k. All three look like they will be available form February or March next year, but orders are being taken now. More facts, figures, roadtests etc.when I get them.

They are available from Eddy Bullet and other good scooter dealers.
(If you’re a dealer, and you are stocking them, know any more, or even want to let me have a test ride so I can write about them, get in touch and I’ll link to you).

Vintage video… TV2 and Bubblecar

Vintage film of a young guy riding his Lambretta TV175, Messerschmitt KR, and Honda 50 Sport.
Love the Lammy and the Messerschmitt… I’ll pass on the Honda, maybe have an MV Augusta instead… 🙂

5,000km Pan-European Roadtrip… on a 1966 SX

A documentary video of an impressively bearded Italian guy (Alessa Andrini, I’m guessing from his YouTube user name) and a 5,000 km road trip from his home town in Riccione, Italy. Before he sets off to see the British Moto GP at Donnington, and then the Dutch one at Assen,  first he has to restore his 1966 SX 150… (although I thought it looked pretty good as it was, you can’t argue with the finished scoot, in vibrant yellow). Follow the whole series via his YouTube page.

Glamourous Vietnamese Lambretta girl Mai Chi on a shopping trip with the new Lambretta LN. In our eurocentric world we sometimes forget just how big a market South East Asia is for the new Lambretta, from some of the buzz online, it almost seems to be their lead market.

Get them young.

I think it is the Jesuits who say ““Give me the child, and I will mould the man.” With this in mind, and trying to keep the “Way of the Lambretta” alive for future generations… when my kids came home from school with the following note “We are doing a project on transport. If any parents or grandparents have any interesting vehicles and would like to bring them in, we would be very grateful” … well, I had to respond. So I turned up, on the day, with a couple of other dads (well, actually they were Grandads) to show off our vehicles. As well as my 1960 Series 2, there was a 1962 Singer Gazelle, and a proper Al Capone style Chevrolet from 1932.

Two classes of six year olds (split into  groups of ten), meant 60 kids clambering all over my scoot, but it was worth it to see the excitement in there faces. And I’m officially the coolest dad in the year (this week, anyway). I made a little bit of Lambretta propoganda / colouring page to ensure the next generation of Lambrettisti.
