Shiny, shiny!

10447662_702494403150143_3186968119947901914_nEstablished about two years ago, JL Polishing offer a range of finishing for Lambretta components. They specialise in mirror finishing of alloy parts, are fast establishing a reputation for great quality work, and have gained clients far and wide.10372532_702494389816811_2922462348443999354_nIn fact, you’ve probably seen their work already… read the last three issues of Scootering? they’ve had a mention in all of them. The stunning Aston Martin themed SX? They polished the chaincase. The rather nice YPVS in the latest one? That’s their work too. 10443344_684169884991212_8463655855839633562_n524632_480631118669807_1376641703_nThere’s a lot of bits you can polish on a Lammie… from chaincase sides to carbs, from brake levers to the forks, I’d be surprised if there’s a part of a Lambretta that can be polished, that they haven’t.

JL Polishing are based in Hinckley, but  if you’re not local, you can post your components and they’ll get them back to you, securely and insured. Check out more of their stunning work on their Facebook page. They have recently moved into new premises, where they also offer servicing of scooters.

Their website is http://www.jlpolishing.co.uk/ or ring them on 07825 368630. Oh, and the name JL? well is short for Johnny Lambrettista… no relation! 🙂

Cushty cutdown

RB260-Cutdown-2-19-7-2014I don’t feature many cutdowns on here… it’s not that I don’t like them… but my personal taste is towards a scooter that messes with the original designers vision as little as possible, or enhances it in subtle ways. But when a cutdown is done properly they can look the business… like this one that’s up for sale on eBay.

The ultimate family Lambretta?

Family TrailerI don’t know much about this amazing contraption… but I’d like to know more! I think I can make out the word “Siambretta” on the trailer, which would make it Argentinian… but I may be mistaken.

If a sidecar doesn’t quite cut the mustard for family transportation, you can get another kid or two in this! I hope the engine is uprated – otherwise journeys would be stylish, but very slow!

Scooter Caravan Up for Sale

Tula_57You might remember the homemade scooter caravan I posted about last year; if not you can read the original post here. Well, it’s up for grabs on eBay. You really could do the next scooter rally in comfort and style!Tula_57-2 Tula_57-1It’s got a “Buy It Now” price of £2,700, which seems exceptional value for money when you think of all the hours and effort that went in to build it. Here's the ebay link.

The Real McKoi

mcKoi-$_57-2

$_57This scooter for sale on eBay is the absolute business. Usually, I can take or leave custom paint… but this is gorgeous… and I just ‘get” the whole concept of this scooter. The Real McCoy means “the genuine article” and this scooter is certainly that. No expense has been spared in the build, with owner going “straight to the top’ and getting all the work being done by some of the best in the business… The paint is by Ty Layer ( Pageant Paiintwork ), Engraving by Adi Clark, Seat by Corky, 250cc Twin Targa Engine build by Stuart from the 100 MPH Lambretta Club, Hydraulic Clutch by Chris Sadd.McK$_57-3

60 years old gets the red carpet treatment…

Funky LD

Trawling the web for Lambretta images, I came across this freshly restored, and pimped up LD in Indonesia. Sitting rotting in a shipyard, it was rescued and given the full treatment by XXX, including the unique colour scheme, which it wears well. Very funky!Lambretta_012 Lambretta_008 Lambretta_005 Lambretta_009 3 Lambretta_006 Lambretta_010

I even like the red carpet… although whatever material it’s made of – in the UK it would just soak up rain, maybe you can get away with it in Indonesia!Lambretta_020 LD2

Found on the Vietnamese Xe Va Phong Cách blog, which Google tells me translates to “The Car and Style” although it originally comes from the Indonesian automotive blog dapurpacu.com. From what I can make out the work was done by these guys in Jakarta: Alamat Bengkel Primo 116 Werx

If you’re reading this in the mystic orient, and you’re english is better than my (or google’s) Indonesian and/or Vientnamese, and I’ve made any glaring errors, please put me right 🙂

I’ve just noticed this is my 444th post which is simultaneously pleasing and, for some reason, a bit spooky… If you’re new to the blog you’ve got 443 other posts to check out, please do!
