Manurin Concorde

Sycronicity at work again, posted up that link to a group of eBay barn finds (hit the link or just scroll down), and then I stumble across this lovely page about Manurin scooters. So, with a little time, know how, patience and elbow grease your resto project could look something like this.

I must admit, I’d never heard the name Manurin before, gut this big wheeled scoot from France has a beauty all of it’s own. And in 1957, they were the third most poplular scooter in Europe, behind Vespa and Lambretta of course.
If the shape is ringing any bells for you, but your not thinking Manurin… maybe it reminds you of a DKW Hobby… which it is pretty much a ‘badge engineered’ version  of.

Heinkel Tourist

In case you missed it in the comments, Bob spotted that the scooter in the “Wall of Death” post was a Heinkel Tourist. Good spot Bob… The Germans did love a big from mudguard didn’t they! If you like you’re scooters beefy and Germanic there’s a great Heikel Tourist  website here.

Jet Scooter

Not to be confused with a Jet 200 Lambretta… This is a gas turbine scooter with a homemde afterburner. Personally, I’m not sure afterburners SHOULD be homemage… and as this seems to generate more noise, flame and smoke than forward motion, at the moment I’ll stick to Petroil…

If you’re after something slightly different, how about this lovely skinhead style skelly… tons of original style accessories, and it’s got most the original panels and bodywork, if you want to turn it back to a full framed scoot. Buy it now for £2,300

A bit of a disclaimer… I don’t know any of these scooters – or sellers, I’m not making a penny from these, and I can’t vouch for the originality, legality, performance or anything else about these scoots. They just look good to me. I’m going to write a post on the best places to buy a scooter, other than eBay, so watch this space. And if you’re thinking of buying a Lambretta, it’s definitely worth checking out the buyers guide on the Lambretta Cub of Great Britain’s website
