Being launches on Kickstarter

Being, the short film project I wrote about a while back has launched on Kickstarter.

af6b9ef50edcfb0eeb050b43b5c8df4c_originalFeaturing a young carer (Buddy) inspired by 60’s music and the film Quadrophenia. Buddy meets an out of work actor, Doley who was in Quadrophenia  (played by Mark Wingett) an they become friends. From original cast members and the Brighton location, right down to the replicas of the scooters and clothing, Being has strong cultural references to the original Quadrophenia movie.Caring

Being will be shot in London and Brighton in late summer 2016. It’s a gentle observational drama, about a young boy who is bullied for being different.bdfdd3b599ed7b3c0187cb964da6abc3_original

Check it out on Kickstarter, here, watch the project movie, and if you feel like getting involved, become a backer. This project will only be funded if at least £20,000 is pledged by Sat, Apr 16. At the moment, they are off to a good start. If you want to see this happen, pledges start at just £2.

Mucking about on Lambretta Choppers

These guys are old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway. I’ve never been a particular fan of the chopped Lammy, but this looks like fun!

I’m guessing they are part of this mob: Lambretta Choppers Owners Club (great pics on their website).

Trailer? Teaser more like…

Not quite sure what this video is actually trailing, but it’s one to keep an eye on.

New Zealand Scooter Mille Miglia 2014

A long overdue post for this epic event… (and I mean properly epic as my nine year old son uses it – applied to just about everything). Four days covering 1000 miles across New Zealand, on scooters. And scooters means proper scooters. Classic geared scooters, as it should. Preparations for this years ride on the 23rd – 26th April are well underway check out the website at www.motoretta.co.nz (The event is now rebranded Mottoretta NZ Motto GP due to legal reasons).MOTOTT2015coglogoarrows3The website is very smart – I love the new branding. Check out the team names, that’ll give you a flavour of the event. if you want to take part… sorry… you’re too late, it was all booked up by September. Maybe get a team together and stick it in the diary for 2016? It’s something I’d love to do one year, but couldn’t have sone it this year anyway as I’ll be in Italy for something rather special and scooter related… watch this space!

Thanks Thornton for the heads up on this.

Lambretta Vlog Time…

T’internet’s a funny old thing isn’t it? Always something new to discover. I just stumbled across “Lambretta Vlog Time” a Video Blog about a guy and his Lambrettas. And it was episode 16. Which means I’ve missed the first 15 somehow. Oh well… some catching up to do! One of my less tiresome jobs to do this week! I probably won’t repost all 15 on here… but I will post the best, and hopefully give you a heads up when a new one pops up!

This one focuses on a nicely restored GP which is nearly finished, and looks like will be up for sale soon. Check out the rest of the vids for yourself on digger9million’s YouTube Channel, here.

How to ride a Lambretta – Changing gear

Changing gears on a Lambretta is pretty simple, but if your coming from a motorcycle, or an auto, this may be useful.

4Nations Lambretta Rally 2014

Scomadi Promotional Video

If you didn’t want a Scomadi before seeing this video, you probably will after. The section where the Scomadi rides alongside the GP is genius, you can make a really good comparison between the two Marques, and see just how much GP DNA there is in the Scomadi bloodline. It sits a little higher than the Italian original, and lets be brutally honest, it’s not quite as stunningly beautiful, but it comes pretty close.  I’m sold.

The video was created by Paul “Woodsy” Wood of Manchester Lyons SC. Long time readers of the blog might remember his excellent video of Eurolambretta 2013  Avignon, and his scooter photography. If you haven’t seen them, click the relevant links, cos you really ought to.

But If, having seen this video, you want to stop fitting about on this blog and just buy a Scomadi, you can register your details here.

It’s NOT a race… but let’s get it over the finish line!

starr-0910P_B_129-02---DAY-02-MORNING-.Still001It’s 22 scooters. It’s 3,487 miles. Over 10 Days. It’s the Scooter Cannonball Run… a “timed endurance event”. And back in 2010 they shot  a movie… a documentary that attempted to capture the insanity of the event by follows the scoots ( a swarm of Vespa’s, a Honda Ruckus and Yamaha C3 and Starr – pictured above – on her ’67 Lambretta) from Vancouver too Maine.

And they’ve been working on the movie for the last four years. Working through over 300 hours of footage, shot with 7 cameras. This has been a passion project for the filmmaking team, and, up until now, has been entirely self financed. Finally, the movie has begun to near completion, and now the team has turned to crowdfunding, via Kickstarter, in order to raise finishing funds.

I know it’s a movie I’d like to see. And we can help make it happen. If it’s something you’d like to be part of of too, you can contribute here.
